Wall Street Journal- Putin regularly contacts Musk and asks him not to give Taiwan Starlink_1

In a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, it was claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin requested billionaire Elon Musk not to activate Starlink services over Taiwan. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has dismissed these allegations as “fake news.”

Peskov stated, “This is absolutely not true; the reports by that newspaper are fundamentally false.”

The Wall Street Journal’s coverage highlighted that Putin and Musk allegedly discussed personal and political matters, with Putin reportedly urging Musk to refrain from starting Starlink satellite communications over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

In response, Peskov acknowledged that while there had been contact between Putin and Musk, it occurred before 2022 and was limited to phone conversations. He elaborated, “What I can confirm is that their discussions were fact-checked and focused on forward-looking technologies and the future of tech. The conversations were neither long nor short; that was their only interaction, and since then, there has been no further contact. All other claims are false.”

Moreover, Peskov suggested that with the U.S. presidential election nearing a heated phase, The Wall Street Journal’s report is yet another story that is likely fabricated.
