On October 23, local time, President Xi Jinping attended the 16th BRICS Leaders’ Meeting in Kazan, Russia, where he delivered a significant speech.
During a closed-door session, President Xi welcomed new members into the BRICS family and extended invitations to several countries to become BRICS partnership nations. He underscored that the expansion of BRICS marks an important milestone in its development and signifies a pivotal moment in the evolving international landscape.
Following this, President Xi participated in a larger meeting, where he shared his insights on the future of BRICS development and put forth five key suggestions. He concluded his remarks by expressing China’s willingness to collaborate with all BRICS countries to establish a new phase of high-quality development in “Big BRICS cooperation” and to work together towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.
On the same day, while attending the BRICS Leaders’ Meeting, President Xi held separate meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
