The 2024 Southern California Chinese Church Joint Bible Study and Spiritual Retreat is set to take place from October 25th to 27th, running every evening at 7 PM. This free event will feature Mandarin speaking sessions on Friday and Sunday, with Cantonese translation, while Saturday will have a Cantonese speaking session with Mandarin translation. The keynote speaker will be Pastor Qu Yingyu, who will discuss “Judgment and Revival” through the lens of the Book of Ezekiel. Everyone is welcome to register online at www.glacma.org. The venue for the event is the Arcadia Chinese Baptist Church, located at 100 W. Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007. For those unable to attend in person, the meetings will be live-streamed each evening at glacma.org.

Pastor Qu Yingyu has an impressive background, having studied biochemistry at the University of Waterloo in the 1970s before pursuing theological studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned his Ph.D. in Theology and Philosophy. Currently serving as an advising pastor at the Northern Chinese Christian Church, he is also a retired president of the Canadian Chinese Theological Seminary. His past roles include serving as the director of the International Education Association, working as a missionary with SEND International, and holding positions as lead pastor at both the Chinese Christian Church in Dallas, Texas, and the Northern Chinese Mission of Toronto, as well as being the dean of the Philippines Bible Theological Seminary.

With nearly twenty published works, his writings cover various disciplines, including theology, historical theology, Christian education, and biblical commentary. Notable among his biblical commentaries are “Commentary on Ezra” and “Commentary on 1 Chronicles.”

Pastor Qu plans to explore how God’s actions throughout history and in personal lives can be understood through the Book of Ezekiel, emphasizing the importance of recognizing God’s justice and love from the vantage point of His glorious throne. He centers his discussion on the themes of “Judgment and Revival,” revealing God’s righteous demands for His people and nations. Importantly, he stresses that judgment is not the ultimate goal, but rather a pathway to experiencing revival. In his study of Ezekiel, he aims to connect the scripture with contemporary realities, drawing attention to significant prophetic verses, especially those concerning Russia and various nations, proposing reasonable interpretations of these texts.

The event is organized by the Greater Los Angeles Chinese Church Workers Association, and for further information, attendees can contact Pastor Chen Yinuo, the General Secretary, at 626-353-8199.
