Mirror View·Response|People-to-people exchanges tighten the bonds of BRICS cooperation and friendship

In international relations, the bond between nations is reinforced by the connections among their people, and these connections thrive on mutual understanding. Under China’s active participation and strong promotion, BRICS cooperation has evolved from a “dual-drive” model of political and economic collaboration to a “triple-drive” structure that includes political security, economic finance, and cultural exchange. President Xi Jinping has consistently encouraged BRICS nations to leverage various mechanisms to deepen cultural interactions and enhance understanding between their people.

In recent years, China and its BRICS partners have actively engaged in dialogues across various fields including culture, arts, education, and academia, building bridges of understanding and civilized dialogue.

For instance, on September 23, 2024, in Tehran, Iran, attendees celebrated the opening ceremony of the fourth Chinese Film Week. Just a day earlier, on September 22, in Moscow, Russia, Chinese and Russian youth showcased their talents during the launch of the “Panda Theater” and BRICS film and cultural exchange event. Earlier in July, people flocked to Shanghai to view the “Pyramid at the Peak: Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition,” featuring a life-sized statue of Akhenaten.

On July 19, a key instructor from Ethiopia’s Luban Workshop, along with a doctoral student from Tianjin Vocational Technical Normal University, was seen fine-tuning equipment under the guidance of their teacher. Moreover, on June 8, attendees participated in the second “Cultural China: Cape Town Dragon Boat Festival” in South Africa, celebrating shared cultural experiences.

Even earlier this year, on January 27, the Chinese National Ballet performed a festive ballet titled “New Year” at the Emirates Palace Theatre in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Meanwhile, an event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 19, showcased traditional Chinese clothing, martial arts, and tea ceremonies, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in Chinese calligraphy, cuisine, and cultural heritage.

This ongoing cultural dialogue symbolizes the growing connections among the people of the BRICS nations, fostering understanding and cooperation on multiple fronts.
