Many waterfront parks closed in preparation for Fleet Week

As preparations ramp up for the annual San Francisco Fleet Week, multiple fleet vehicles have been spotted at Fort Mason Waterfront Park, ready for setup. In anticipation of this grand celebration, which is jointly organized by the U.S. Navy and the San Francisco city government, Fort Mason will be temporarily closed to make way for aerial shows and related activities.

Fleet Week is not only a significant occasion to honor the military but also a highly anticipated event for San Francisco residents and tourists alike. During this time, the city is expected to draw thousands of spectators eager to witness the naval vessel parade and thrilling air performances.

With the event approaching, various locations around San Francisco have begun their preparations for Fleet Week, with Fort Mason standing out as one of the prime viewing spots for the naval displays.

To ensure the safety of the aerial performances and a positive experience for attendees, Fort Mason has been closed since October 9 for necessary renovations and safety inspections. This includes the establishment of secure zones for aircraft, the building of viewing platforms, parking arrangements, and testing of emergency evacuation plans. During this closure, both locals and tourists will not have access to the area. However, park management has assured that all preparations will be completed by the day before Fleet Week, when Fort Mason will reopen to the public.

This year’s highlight will feature the Blue Angels, an elite team of naval aviators known for their exceptional flying skills and thrilling stunts, which consistently draw in crowds year after year. This time, they will celebrate Fleet Week with more complex and spectacular formation displays. Spectators will have the opportunity to watch from the waterfront lawns at Fort Mason as the team executes high-speed dives, coordinated flying, and tactical maneuvers—promising an unforgettable experience.
