In a shocking incident in Suffolk, a 55-year-old man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of Anita Rose, a 57-year-old dog walker.
According to Suffolk police, Rose left her home around 5 a.m. on July 24 to take her springer spaniel, Bruce, for a morning walk. Tragically, she was discovered critically injured by a passerby approximately an hour and a half later at around 6:25 a.m.
The suspect, Roy Barclay, who is currently of no fixed address, was charged with Rose’s murder on Tuesday evening and is scheduled to appear before Ipswich magistrates’ court on Wednesday.
Witnesses report that a cyclist, who found Rose lying unconscious on a countryside track near a railway line in Brantham, immediately called for an ambulance. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that Rose’s jacket had been removed; she was found wearing only her bra along with leggings and trainers, with Bruce’s lead wrapped around her leg.
Rose was quickly transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where she fought for her life after suffering severe head and facial injuries, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries four days later on July 28.
Suffolk police confirmed that they arrested Barclay on suspicion of murder on the preceding Monday, subsequently bringing him to the Martlesham police investigation center for further questioning.
