The 2024 Silver-haired Lifestyle Expo is set to take place on October 26 at 10:30 AM, hosted by the World Journal at the Los Angeles Chinese Cultural Center. The event will feature experts from various fields including healthcare, insurance, finance, and community services, who will lead seven professional seminars aimed at the senior community.
In 2025, significant changes to the Medicare program, commonly referred to as the Red and Blue Card, will roll out as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. These updates, especially regarding prescription drug coverage, will have a profound impact on seniors.
Participants can look forward to engaging seminars led by experts from Long-Term Insurance, USC Arcadia Hospital, Cornerstone Medical Center, Anthem Blue Cross, SCAN Health, Fuzhong Health Insurance, and Forest Lawn Memorial Park. These sessions will cover essential topics such as selecting the right health insurance plan, the upcoming changes to Medicare in 2025, key considerations during the enrollment period, comprehensive insights into Medicare, Medicaid, and supplemental plans, as well as the benefits of advanced care planning.
Cornerstone Medical Center will also provide professional insights on the expansion of Medicaid and essential information regarding COVID-19. They emphasize that dental check-ups are often overlooked by the public since Medicare does not cover dental unless enrolled in a specific medical network. Many seniors, lacking Medicaid, may neglect dental health until severe pain arises, leading to costly and time-consuming treatment. Therefore, it is advised that seniors keep track of their Medicare and Medicaid options to ensure comprehensive health coverage.
On the day of the event, USC Arcadia Hospital has invited professional physical therapists to demonstrate practical home exercises tailored for seniors. In this interactive session, therapists will illustrate how simple movements in the comfort of home can enhance mobility, flexibility, and reduce the risk of falls.
Additionally, there will be a free health check station offering services such as blood pressure assessments, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, emotional screenings, and cognitive function tests, helping attendees better understand their health status.
The organizers are also providing 500 goodie bags to the first attendees as a welcome gift (available on a first-come, first-served basis). The venue will feature a free health check area, informative health seminars, and booths from various health insurance providers. A grand raffle with prizes worth over a thousand dollars will also take place. The event is free to attend with free parking available.
