On October 25, the Hunan Provincial Market Supervision Administration held a special matchmaking event for the “One Chain Each Month” patent transformation and application initiative for engineering machinery in Changsha Economic Development Zone. The goal of the event was to promote the Hunan Province patent transformation initiative, enhancing the integration of the patent chain with the innovation chain, industrial chain, and capital chain, ultimately strengthening key industries through intellectual property.
During the event, the Hunan Provincial Market Supervision Administration awarded the province’s first Key Industry (Engineering Machinery Industry) Intellectual Property Operation Center. Several universities, including Central South University, Hunan University, and Hunan Agricultural University, signed patent technology transformation agreements with companies such as Changsha Zhongnan Jinyang Intelligent, Guangdong Lorentz Technology, and Hunan Nongyou Machinery.
Additionally, multiple companies entered into agreements with banks for intellectual property pledge financing projects, totaling 200 million yuan. Six organizations, including the Hunan Intellectual Property Protection Center, the Hunan Intellectual Property Association, and the Hunan Provincial Knowledge Property Trading Center, established a provincial information alliance for the transformation and application of intellectual property.
The event also featured the presentation of 335 proposed patent technologies for transformation from universities and research institutions in the engineering machinery sector. Experts delivered talks and demonstrations on policies related to patent transformation and activation of existing patents, as well as operational methods for collaborations between universities and enterprises.
This event created a platform for universities, businesses, financial institutions, and intellectual property service organizations to connect and exchange information. Ten universities and companies, including Central South University, Hunan University, and Yst Technology, conducted presentations on their intellectual property needs, showcasing the latest cutting-edge technologies in the engineering machinery field. Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions regarding project technological advantages, commercialization progress, and market prospects.
As Hunan’s only national intellectual property demonstration park, the Changsha Economic Development Zone is actively working to empower high-quality industrial development through patent transformation. It has established a high-standard Intellectual Property Service Center within the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone, offering comprehensive and one-stop intellectual property services to both local and external companies. The zone has also attracted various service organizations and research institutions, such as the National Intelligent Connection Engineering Machinery Research Institute and the Shanghai Technology Trading Center, collaborating with the Hubei Center to create a patent navigation analysis report addressing electrification and intelligentization in the engineering machinery sector. Services provided include patent pre-examination, patent value assessments, intellectual property evaluations, and support for patent transfers.
Since the launch of the patent transformation initiative last October, Hunan has continued to refine its patent transformation model, focusing on building intellectual property centers within universities, and fostering collaborations among universities, industry parks, enterprises, and service providers. The province’s transformation efforts have led to increased matches between services and demands, enhancing the activity and effectiveness of patent transformations throughout Hunan.
Data from January to September this year indicate that Hunan has seen 18,567 patent transfers, a 37.5% increase from the same period last year; 2,961 patent licenses, showing a 150.1% increase; and 358 patent pledge registrations, amounting to 5.38 billion yuan, up 65% year-on-year. Looking ahead, Hunan plans to continue its “One Chain Each Month” patent transformation activities targeting industries such as rail transit, biomedicine, new energy, new materials, electronic information, and energy conservation and environmental protection.
