On October 23, the commencement ceremony of the “Shared Heritage, United in Bond” event was jointly organized by the United Front Work Department of Guoluo Prefecture in Qinghai Province and the United Front Work Department of Dongying City, taking place at the Dongying Hotel.
During the two-day event, participants engaged in a variety of activities including photography exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and on-site research to foster mutual learning, broaden work perspectives, and enhance work capabilities. The goal was to further promote extensive interactions, comprehensive exchanges, and deep integration among various ethnic groups.
Guoluo Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Qinghai Province, is nestled in the heart of the “Three Rivers Source” region and is the birthplace of the Yellow River, serving as a crucial water source and ecological safety barrier for the country.
In recent years, Guoluo has prioritized ethnic unity and progress as a strategic, foundational, and long-term objective. The region has actively sought to deepen and solidify the achievements of its ethnic unity initiatives by exploring innovative methods for creating stronger bonds among ethnic communities.
Qi Leting, a member of the Guoluo Prefectural Committee and head of the United Front Work Department, commented on the symbolic connection between Guoluo and Dongying through the Yellow River. He stated, “This joint initiative serves as an opportunity to enhance learning and deepen exchanges. We aim to strengthen collaboration in areas such as ethnic unity initiatives, cultural excavation, and the development of ethnic industries. Together, we can establish a new model for promoting mutual progress and cross-regional collaboration.”
Guo Yan, a member of the Dongying City Committee and the minister of both the Publicity and United Front Work Departments, shared that Dongying has actively engaged in initiatives to bolster a cohesive Chinese national identity. The city has gained recognition as a demonstration site in Shandong Province for these efforts. “The convergence of the Yellow River at Dongying’s estuary symbolizes our partnership with Guoluo. As we jointly endeavor to deepen communications and enhance collaboration, we are forging a path toward high-quality development in ethnic affairs,” she remarked, emphasizing the commitment to fostering unity and prosperity.
During the meeting, agreements were signed to share resources and information, conduct educational outreach, create collaborative platforms, and strengthen management services. This cooperation framework aims to promote diversified, cross-regional exchanges in fostering a cohesive Chinese national identity between Dongying and Guoluo.
