First point of view丨The contributions of the people in the old districts should always be remembered

The revolutionary old areas hold a significant place in President Xi Jinping’s heart. During his tenure in Zhejiang, he made several visits to key revolutionary sites such as Yuyao in Ningbo, Suichang in Lishui, Changxing in Huzhou, and Pingyang in Wenzhou. His focus during these visits went beyond just the rich revolutionary history of these regions; he also looked into their industrial development, infrastructure improvements, and grassroots party-building initiatives. He remarked that “the prosperity of the people in these old areas is essential for achieving common prosperity among the people of Zhejiang.”

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party, President Xi has conducted significant visits to various revolutionary areas, including Jinggangshan and Lüliang. At each location, he took the time to assess the living conditions of the locals, checking on the advancements in their lives while pinpointing ongoing challenges. He has consistently urged party committees and governmental agencies at all levels to ramp up their efforts to tackle these issues.

Reflecting on his experiences, President Xi has shared his heartfelt sentiments: “Every time I visit a revolutionary old area, I pay my respects at historic revolutionary sites. This serves as a reminder to all Party members not to forget how the red regime was established, how New China came into existence, and how we are living a happy life today. It signifies that the Communist Party of China will always uphold the red banner, steadfastly pursue the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and continue to advance the great cause initiated by our predecessors.”
