Maidstone Museum is getting ready to bring back the vibrant energy of the ’80s with a special disco night! Scheduled for the evening of Saturday, November 23, this event is exclusively for those over 18.
This exciting evening is a continuation of the museum’s “I Grew Up in the ’80s” exhibition, which is described as a “lovingly-curated time capsule showcasing the youthful exuberance of the much-loved decade.” According to a museum spokesperson, it’s the perfect chance to “dig out your rah-rah skirts, dust off your fluorescent leggings, backcomb that hair, and get footloose for some banging tunes.”
Nestled in the heart of Kent, the Maidstone Museum occupies the grounds of a Grade II-listed Elizabethan manor house that first opened to the public in 1858. Local officials are thrilled about the event. Councillor Stephen Thompson from Maidstone Borough Council remarked, “We are very proud to be able to offer our residents and visitors such a range of things to see and do when they come to the county town of Kent, and this is another great example of what we do.”
In a similar spirit, Canterbury Cathedral recently stood by its decision to host a silent disco, which drew over 3,000 attendees over two days.
