Delta Air Lines’ Los Angeles to Shanghai route will resume 17 flights per week in June next year

Delta Airlines is making waves with its recent developments at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), including the launch of an upgraded Delta One lounge and an exciting announcement to restart direct flights from Los Angeles to Shanghai in June 2025. The airline plans to operate 17 round-trip flights weekly between the U.S. and China, bolstered by existing routes from cities like Detroit and Seattle.

In a report from Simple Flying, the news about the new Shanghai route follows Delta’s signing of a codeshare agreement with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) in September. The flights will be operated using the Airbus A330-300, a key component of Delta’s fleet of 1,001 aircraft, which includes 31 A330-300s.

The Los Angeles to Shanghai route will provide passengers with a range of travel experiences, including the Delta One suite, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Economy Class. All travelers can enjoy a curated dining experience and over 1,000 hours of entertainment content through the Delta Studio.

Delta serves nearly 60 destinations from LAX, and starting December 4, it will add and resume flights to Paris and Brisbane, Australia.

Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, emphasized the airline’s commitment to offering excellent travel experiences to its customers worldwide. The recent investments in the Delta One lounge and airport renovations at LAX reflect this dedication. As a “star attraction” at the airport, all travelers will appreciate the convenience of the upgraded Delta Sky Way, which now features 1.2 million square feet of space and 27 boarding gates.
