A minibus collides with a truck in northern Egypt, killing 7 and injuring 10

On October 24, a tragic accident occurred in Egypt’s Sharqia Governorate, where a minibus collided with a truck, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals and leaving ten others injured.

Reports from the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram indicate that traffic police have arrived at the scene to clear the wreckage. The bodies of the victims are currently undergoing forensic examination to determine the cause and circumstances of the incident.

Earlier this year, in May, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released its report on road and railway accidents in Egypt for 2023. The report highlighted that while the number of fatalities from road traffic accidents decreased by 24.5% compared to 2022, the number of injuries rose by 27%, with a total of 71,016 individuals affected.

In response to the ongoing challenges, the Egyptian government is actively implementing a national plan aimed at expanding and upgrading the country’s road network, along with reinforcing road safety measures to help mitigate the frequency of such accidents.
