Hyundai Motor Company has recently achieved a significant milestone by surpassing a cumulative global production of 100 million vehicles. This remarkable achievement was reached just 57 years after the company was established, making it one of the fastest-growing brands in the automotive industry worldwide. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Hyundai hosted a ceremony at its factory in Ulsan, South Korea (as seen in the image).
In appreciation of the unwavering support and trust from its customers, Hyundai directly handed over the 100,001st vehicle, an IONIQ 5, to its owner. This event also unveiled a special decoration commemorating “One Hundred Million and One,” symbolizing Hyundai’s commitment to past achievements and its ongoing expansion through human-centered innovative technologies.
Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated that reaching a total global production of 100 million vehicles is a significant milestone, made possible by customers around the world who have chosen and supported the brand from the very beginning. He highlighted that the company’s willingness to challenge itself and continually pursue innovative technologies has driven Hyundai’s rapid growth, as it now sets its sights on producing another 100 million vehicles.
The Ulsan plant, which began operations in 1968, is recognized as the birthplace of the South Korean automotive industry and holds significant historical value. Currently, this facility is designated as the center for electrification, offering dedicated facilities for electric vehicle production.
Dong Seock Lee, President of Hyundai and Head of Domestic Production and Safety, remarked that every employee at Hyundai has contributed to this achievement through hard work and dedication. He emphasized that this milestone represents the initial step toward leading the future era of electrification.
The continuous growth of Hyundai has been bolstered by the launch of its luxury brand Genesis, high-performance brand N, and electric vehicles like the IONIQ 5, which utilizes the dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The company is expanding its global footprint, with production facilities established in Turkey, India, the United States, and the Czech Republic, achieving record-breaking accomplishments.
Last year, Hyundai established a new Global Innovation Center in Singapore, focused on smart city mobility concepts.
