In a recent interview, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) expressed their gratitude towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reappointing Festus Keyamo as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
The AON emphasized that this decision highlights the president’s insightful judgment and unwavering commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation industry.
“Since his initial appointment, Honorable Keyamo has exhibited exceptional leadership, raising the bar for the aviation sector. His steadfast efforts and advocacy for business-friendly policies have instigated significant improvements. AON members proudly state that, under his leadership, we have seen unprecedented progress,” a representative from AON remarked.
The operators also noted Keyamo’s proactive approach to engaging with the industry, his emphasis on safety, and his dedication to supporting both local and international airlines, which have collectively restored confidence in the sector. “It’s evident that he genuinely prioritizes the welfare of the nation and the aviation industry,” they stated.
Adding to their praise, the AON highlighted Keyamo’s commitment to implementing the Cape Town Convention, which played a crucial role in elevating Nigeria’s aviation rating from 40% to around 80% in a remarkably short timeframe. They pointed out that his efforts to ensure adherence to international standards have facilitated greater access to aircraft financing and leasing, significantly enhancing the operational capacity of airlines and contributing to the sector’s growth.
“The reappointment of Festus Keyamo embodies President Tinubu’s vision of excellence and progress for Nigeria. We believe that a government’s effectiveness is ultimately gauged by the quality of individuals it appoints to vital roles. By choosing Festus Keyamo, the President has made an exceptional decision, ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation sector remains in competent and forward-thinking hands,” the AON concluded.
