Siemens Energy will bring cutting-edge low-carbon technologies to the 7th China International Import Expo

At the upcoming seventh China International Import Expo, Siemens Energy is set to address the challenges and customer demands in the global energy transition. The company will showcase a comprehensive range of innovative products, technologies, solutions, and success stories across the entire energy value chain. This platform will also facilitate extensive discussions with partners aimed at enhancing collaborative innovation and international cooperation, contributing to the acceleration of green and low-carbon energy transitions in both China and globally.

As a leading global energy technology firm, Siemens Energy will focus on critical areas of low-carbon energy transition, including power generation, transmission, industrial decarbonization, and renewable energy. The expo will feature a series of cutting-edge technologies and products, many of which will be showcased in China and even Asia for the first time. Notable among these is the 245 kV/72.5 kV vacuum interrupter, a key device ensuring the safe and stable operation of power systems with zero greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle. Additionally, the integrated gear-based compression units utilized for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) applications will demonstrate efficient, leak-free operations. The Siemens Gamesa recyclable wind turbine blades, made from new resin materials, can be repurposed at the end of their life cycle, thereby reducing environmental pollution and promoting resource recycling.

During the expo, Siemens Energy will also unveil a model of the generator from China’s first hydroelectric power station, the Shilong Dam, which the company helped construct. Operational since 1912, this machine has witnessed China’s journey in large-scale renewable energy development and serves as a historical example of international cooperation in green energy between China and Germany.

“Today, global energy transition demands stronger international communication and collaboration than ever before. China is emerging as a driving force and leader in this historical process,” said Yao Zhenguo, Global Senior Vice President and Head of Greater China at Siemens Energy. “From contributing to China’s first hydropower station over a century ago to deeply engaging in the country’s green and low-carbon energy transition today, Siemens Energy remains committed to rooting ourselves in China and building confidence in our development. Our consistent presence at the Import Expo reflects our utilization of this open platform to seize opportunities in China’s green development and leverage our technological strength and innovation in the green cooperation between China and Europe, working alongside our extensive Chinese partners to advance global energy toward a clean, low-carbon, and secure future.”

At this year’s Import Expo, Siemens Energy features a panoramic display and virtual experience center for low-carbon energy systems, showcasing diverse applications across the energy value chain. The exhibit will also display future-oriented energy technologies and products, including the record-holding 9000HL gas turbine and the Elyzer P-300 electrolyzer for hydrogen production.

Since its independent operation began in 2020, Siemens Energy has actively participated in the Import Expo, forming numerous collaboration projects with Chinese partners. For instance, during last year’s expo, Siemens Energy signed a strategic partnership agreement with China Energy Construction Group, which has led to ongoing deepened cooperation. In June of this year, Siemens Energy partnered with China Energy Construction to build two of the world’s largest modern, efficient gas power plants in Saudi Arabia, boasting a total capacity of nearly 4 GW and significantly mitigating the region’s heavy reliance on oil.

Moreover, the “China-Germany Low-Carbon Energy Research Center,” initiated by Siemens Energy at the 2021 expo, has become operational in 2023 at its Greater China headquarters to facilitate deep integration of industry, academia, and research for international collaboration. The Songzan Group collaboration, signed at the expo, has led to the successful operation of the Songzan Basongcuo Linka low-carbon green hotel, proving beneficial for the ecology and contributing to a low-carbon society since its launch in 2023. Additionally, the Siemens Energy zero-carbon, fluorine-free high-voltage switchgear (Blue GIS) showcased at the 2021 expo has been implemented in several domestic and international transmission projects, including China’s first zero-carbon substations in Wuxi and Guangzhou.

Siemens Energy’s booth details at the seventh Import Expo include:
Location: National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) (Address: 333 Songze Avenue, Qingpu District, Shanghai)
Booth Number: Hall 3, 3B4-01
