In an announcement made on October 8, the official website of the Munich Security Conference revealed that former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will take over as chair of the conference starting in February 2025.
The 61st Munich Security Conference is set to occur from February 14 to 16, 2025, and Stoltenberg will step into the chairmanship immediately following the event.
Stoltenberg, a native of Norway, has a background in economics. He made history in 2000 when he became Norway’s youngest prime minister at just 41 years old.
Since assuming the role of NATO Secretary General in 2014, Stoltenberg has had his mandate renewed several times, with his current term expected to conclude on October 1, 2024. International media frequently characterize him as a “steady leader” who is “open to listening to others,” highlighting his cautious and collaborative approach to leadership.
